Learning objects are fundamental elements of a new conceptual model for content creation and distribution. They are destined to change the shape and form of learning, ushering in unprecedented efficiency of content design, development, and delivery. Their most significant promise is to increase and improve the effectiveness of learning and human performance. This paper speculates on the future of learning objects, and describes how the content model for learning objects fit within this larger vision of the future of learning.
