The paper focuses on two core poverty measures (income and hunger), two measures of human development (the Human Development Index and education), and two areas that are critical to any attempt to sustain prosperity (energy and climate change). For each of these areas, it asks what baseline can be set for 2015; whether it is possible to set a business-as-usual trajectory; what drivers influence this trajectory; and what conclusions the High-level Panel should draw from this evidence. A concluding section asks how international action could ‘bend the curve’ and accelerate progress above and beyond this business-as-usual trajectory.
