The global childhood obesity epidemic is continuing especially rapidly in LMICs. Even in high income countries (HICs), it is plateauing at unacceptably high level and creating greater inequalities. Many cultural, environmental and economic factors are not yet well incorporated into models of determinants. For modelling science to be useful to policymakers it needs to answer the questions that they have about how to reverse the epidemic and its inequalities.
